The project included the Structural Restoration of the National Library Building of Athens after the 1999 Athens quake.. The building is a neoclassical buildings of the early 20th century and has three structurally independent wings. It houses the national library & archives of Greece and is considered a landmark of Athens.

Penelis Consulting Engineers SA were assigned the total project. The building is constructed with layered URM which consists of fine cut outer marble wall and semi cut and cut ineer wall connected together. The project included in situ investigations, laboratory investigations, constitution of compatible grouts, structural analysis, linear & nonlinear of existing & strengthened building, design of a protective steel temporary roof, detailing drawings, tender documents, & supervision during construction.
